WhatsApp, the popular messaging app with over 2.5 billion active users, is preparing to deepen its integration with Instagram by releasing a new feature that will allow users to seamlessly share status updates across both platforms.
Building on its earlier integration with Facebook, WhatsApp appears to be expanding this functionality to Instagram, greatly easing the process of sharing content with a bigger audience across Meta-owned platforms.
This forthcoming functionality, which is presently under development, would allow users to easily upload their WhatsApp status updates directly to their Instagram stories in a single step, according to WABetaInfo. Previously users had to manually create and submit separate updates on each platform.
The feature is optional, which means that users can choose whether or not to use it. Those who choose to keep separate status updates on each platform are free to do so.
The ability to share status updates to Instagram is included in the current WhatsApp beta for Android 188.8.131.52 version, which is available for download from the Google Play Store. It is still in development and will be included in a future app version.
