IBM is set to acquire two data integration assets from Software AG, a German enterprise software company, in a cash deal valued at €2.13 billion ($2.3 billion).
The deal includes gaining ownership of StreamSets, a data integration platform acquired by Software AG last year, and WebMethods, a platform purchased in 2007 for over $500 million.
Software AG was recently acquired by Silver Lake, reaching 93% ownership with plans to delist the company from public markets.
IBM’s acquisition aligns with its hybrid cloud strategy, aiming to manage data from various sources and enhance Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities, including its recent introduction of Watsonx, a data science platform.
The technologies acquired cover aspects of application and data integration, contributing to IBM’s broader efforts in the AI and data management space.
