TikTok, in its latest report on Community Guidelines Enforcement, revealed the removal of 1.4 million videos from Nigerian users in Q3.

Globally, 136.5 million videos were removed across the top 50 countries violating policies.

The removals, primarily focused on Integrity, Authenticity, Privacy, Security, Mental Health, Safety, and Civility policies, accounted for 90% of all content removals.

Additionally, 73.6 million spam or fake accounts were removed.

TikTok removed 348.7 million likes, 211.3 million fake followers, and 7.2 billion fake follow requests, targeting automated or inauthentic mechanisms.

The report highlighted 1.3 million ads removed for policy violations in Q3, compared to 962,574 in Q2.

Despite these challenges, TikTok generated $3.8 billion in consumer spending in 2023, contributing to a $10 billion total revenue.

This includes being the first app to surpass $1 billion in quarterly spending in Q1.

The report underscores the evolving landscape of social media threats and the need for adaptive enforcement strategies.

The financial success of TikTok prompts discussions on future trends in social media monetization, with insights into user behaviour guiding strategies for sustainable revenue growth.
