Residents of Kibra, Nairobi County, are set to benefit from an initiative launched by Ahadi Wireless in collaboration with the Livelihood Impact Fund, aimed at providing affordable internet connectivity.
Director of Ahadi Wireless, Johnstone Namusasi, highlighted that expanding affordable internet access in the area will enable more individuals to access a wide range of information from around the globe.
“The high cost of internet services in Kenya is prohibitive for many residents, particularly those in low-income areas. Our goal is to provide quality internet at affordable rates, ensuring access to information on global events,” Mr Namusasi explained.
On his part, Daniel Muthama, project manager at Livelihood Impact Fund, emphasized that the initiative will not only improve internet accessibility but also create job opportunities and enhance livelihoods for local residents.
The initiative has been well-received by beneficiaries, particularly young entrepreneurs, who anticipate positive impacts on their businesses.
The entrepreneurs in the area expressed optimism about the initiative, noting its potential to significantly boost their businesses.
Youths were also encouraged to seize the opportunity to enhance their income through affordable internet access.
Kibra is one of the largest slums in the country, with population estimates ranging from 170,000 to 1.2 million residents.
