How to change the keyboard of your Android device

The default Android keyboard is everyone’s go-to keyboard to type stuff on their Android-powered device. But there are some who want to change it with a third-party keyboard. The default Android keyboard can be incredibly dull and boring oftentimes. It isn’t surprising that people want to change their Android keyboard. For some people, the primary functions of the default keyboard are not enough to satisfy them. No one is going to blame you if you’d like to make the transition to something much more useful. Before we can get to which keyboard to install, the first step is to learn how to change the default keyboard.

How to change your Android keyboard

  • Click the Google Play Store app to open it. Browse for the “keyboard” or related search term, and select the keyboard app you want by clicking on it.
  • After you’ve decided which keyboard app you want to use, tap “Install.”
  • When the download is complete, tap “Open” to launch your new keyboard app. Follow the instructions, if any, to complete the installation.
  • Open the Settings app for your Android mobile device. If you’re still not sure where and how to find it, go to your Home screen and browse the app menu till you locate “Settings,” represented by an icon that looks like a gear.
  • Tap “General Management” in the Settings menu.
  • Tap the “Language and input” button.
  • Tap the default keyboard.
  • Click the name of the keyboard app you want to use.
