Finally, WhatsApp users may reply to messages with any emoji.

In a group or individual chat on WhatsApp, users will soon be able to respond to text messages and media files using additional emoticons. The “respond with emoji” function has recently begun to roll out in some countries, although there are only five emojis available on the site.

Emojis like “thumbs up,” “red heart,” “laughing,” “surprise,” “sad,” and “pray” are among them. Users will soon see a + sign, which when clicked will reveal the bottom emoji tray. Aside from the five already available options, the emoji tray will now have a search box where WhatsApp users may look up a relevant emoji. Users may now change the emojis’ skin tones, which was not possible with the prior version.

Since Facebook and Instagram, WhatsApp’s sibling platforms had had the “respond with emoji” capability for a while.

Given that so many individuals still work from home nowadays and frequently use the app for personal or professional communication, this function is very useful. It only enables them to communicate using an emoji rather than delivering a pointless reply.

In a press release announcing the most recent development, WhatsApp stated that it had collaborated with Emojipedia, the organization behind World Emoji Day, to explain some of the “hotly disputed and newest emojis” that users would encounter in chats. Regular users will get access to this data as soon as the new version is released.

Keith Broni, Editor-in-Chief of Emojipedia, commented on the development in the press release, saying:

“With over 3,600 conceivable new emoji alternatives, we’re happy to work up with WhatsApp today and leverage our expertise to solve the hot button emoji comprehension disputes.”

According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that would enable users to sync their chat histories across numerous devices. Users will be able to join a second mobile device to their WhatsApp account without having to have active Internet access thanks to the function, which is apparently termed the companion mode. The specifics of its availability are still unknown.
