Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G, introducing artificial intelligence tools to its midrange smartphone lineup for the first time. The company said the new models also bring stronger durability, longer software support, and expanded security features.
The devices debut “Awesome Intelligence,” Samsung’s branding for its set of AI-powered features supported by One UI 7. The tools include upgrades to Google’s Circle to Search, which can now recognize phone numbers, emails, and URLs directly from the screen, as well as identify music playing nearby or through social media apps. Users also gain AI-powered photo editing tools such as Object Eraser, Filters, and Best Face, which selects the best expressions for group photos.

Camera upgrades include a 50-megapixel main lens across all three models and 10-bit HDR selfie recording on the A56 5G and A36 5G. The A56 5G adds a new 12MP ultra-wide lens and enhancements to Samsung’s low-light “Nightography” system, including noise reduction on the front camera.

Samsung said the new Galaxy A phones are designed for longevity, with up to six generations of Android and One UI upgrades and six years of security updates. The A56 5G and A36 5G feature 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED displays with brightness up to 1,200 nits, stereo speakers, and larger vapor chambers for sustained performance. The A56 5G runs on Samsung’s Exynos 1580 chipset, while the A36 5G uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 platform. All three devices include a 5,000mAh battery, with the A56 5G and A36 5G supporting 45W charging.

For durability, the A26 5G now carries an IP67 dust and water resistance rating, matching the protection offered on the A36 5G and A56 5G. All models are built with Corning glass for added resistance against scratches and cracks.
On security, Samsung has extended Knox Vault to the A series for the first time, offering features such as theft detection, customizable privacy controls, and integration with the Knox Matrix dashboard. The phones can also be managed through Samsung’s Knox enterprise solutions.
The Galaxy A26 5G, A36 5G, and A56 5G join the A16 5G in the company’s midrange portfolio. Pricing starts at $299.99 for the A26 5G, which launches in Black on March 28. The A36 5G starts at $399.99 and will be available in Awesome Black and Awesome Lavender, with an Awesome Lime variant sold exclusively at Best Buy beginning March 26. The A56 5G will launch later this year starting at $499.99. It comes in Awesome Graphite and Awesome Lightgray, with an Awesome Olive color exclusive to Amazon.
Samsung said the A56 5G and A36 5G will also support Digital Key in select markets including Asia, Europe, and North America at launch, with further expansion planned.
