Free online marketplace, OLX Kenya, allowing users to buy or sell goods online and as well communicating with others at no cost, aims to increase e-commerce uptake in the country by helping individuals post their items on the site easily and in no time.
The site, targeting the small guy at home or at school and not big merchants to help them rid their homes of unused stuff says it is open to partnerships to anyone who wants to sell off theit unused items at home by allowing them to submit bulk ads to OLX in XML or CSV format and then it’s internal team will publish and update the listings on the individuals behalf at no cost.
The 100% free-to-use site has thousands of products on sale from users from across the country and from all walks of life. Contrary to popular belief, users do not need to register to use OLX but can browse the site and buy items without registration. However, if one wants to register, the process is simple.
Registration at OLX is FREE and the process is very simple. A user simply clicks on the “Register” button, then provides there basic contact information and OLX will send them a confirmation message with their login and password information straight to their email address. An OLX account is helpful for those who want to manage their postings and personal information.
As a buyer, after registering, you can Browse listings when you’re not sure what you’re looking for, or when you simply want to explore the range of items on OLX or in a particular category. Click on Categories and Subcategories and if you find an item you’re interested in, just click on the item title. Those who have no accounts can also edit their ads by following the same processes.
Though people post on OLX everyday, currently postings on the site expire after 180 days and are removed whether they are sold or not. After posting, one can also share their ads on Facebook, Twitter, and email among many others. Users can also communicate with each other via OLX’s messaging service.
