South Africa’s bitcoin software firm Switchless is expanding its BitX, bitcoin exchange rapidly across the continent with a new presence in Kenya and Nigeria.
BitX aims to make it easy to store, spend and receive Bitcoin in Kenya and Nigeriaa and as well as help users create their free digital wallets quickly. Bitx is already available in Namibia and several other countries around the world.
The Stellenbosch-based firm says it provides a fast sign-up with an easy to use interface and a dedicated customer service team amd says its technology is bank-tested and includes physical access controls and strong encryption while its local wallets and exchanges are part of a trusted global network.
Founded by Marcus Swanepoel, ex- Google engineer Timothy Stranex, Carel Van Wyk, Switchless says its building the world’s largest crypto-currency distribution platform, bringing Bitcoin to all the corners of the earth. Bitx provides wallets for people to securely store their Bitcoin, exchanges for people to buy and sell Bitcoin, and merchant integration so that businesses can accept Bitcoin. BitX is powered by Switchless enterprise bitcoin software.
Kenya is served by the recently launched BitPesa, Kipochi and a team working on Zetacoin.
