Uber Lagos has announced it is making it more affordable for Lagos residents to use its services by slashing the price of all UberX rides by 20 per cent.

From 8pm on Monday 4th May, Uber said the uberX price slash becomes effective for a limited duration, making UberĀ almost as cheap as a yellow and black. Even though the company did not announce when the promo would end, the blog post announcing the price slash revealed the slash could be kept low if more rides are recorded within the period.

Unlike the company’s regular offers that require promo codes, Uber said this price slash does not require one and the new pricesĀ are automatically updated on users’ Uber receipts.

ā€œWhat we’ve seen in cities across the worldĀ is that lower fares mean greater demand, lower pickup times and more trips per hour — increasing earning potential and creating better economics for drivers. What does that mean in the long run? They’ll be making more than ever,ā€ Uber said concerning the impacts the promo would have on its drivers.
