It is heartwarming to see quite a few start-ups leveraging technology to improve the education sector. This particular sector has not been in a too good shape for a while. Maybe it is now time for technology to prove its actually worth in our daily life. Well, as we are, here are 5 tech start-ups that are improving the education sector in the country.

1. Passnownow

Passnownow is addressing the problem of access to education for millions of underserved Nigerian Children in rural an urban communities by making all subjects available on web and mobile. Founded by Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji, the platform provides tools for hundreds of thousands of Teachers in public schools. With these, they’re able to use class notes online to teach in Classrooms, parents nudge their children to study via web and mobile to augment class lessons & students studying all their school subjects on the Internet.

2. Pass.ng

This EdTech startup which was started by four friends – Imole Oluyemi, Samson, Abayomi Akanji and Joshua Adebagb – can also be said to be the personal examination buddy of students. They are a one-stop area when it comes to preparing for examinations, with access to numerous past questions and all. Basically, they are helping Nigerian students perform better.

3. ScholarX

In a few more years, ScholarX hope to have funded at least 5 million students’ education. With their village crowdfunding platform, students can get their education funded by other people in the society. They are really doing something in this sector, leveraging technology. The co-founder and CEO encourages those who have the means to study abroad, return at some point to come help fix some of the issues we’re facing.

4. Booklify.ng

Founded by Nathaniel Okwoli who is passionate about the Tech sector likewise books/ reading and have naturally skewed towards that angle, Booklify has been actively involved in the EdTech sector. Basically, the startup improves reading culture amongst youths in Nigeria and makes it more interactive.

5. Prepclass

Prepclass is a platform that contains a huge plethora of past question material that allows students practice online and understand their areas of strength and weaknesses. For parents that want a more personalized experience for their kids, the platform also provides for a personal Prepclass tutor.
