Huawei P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro get stable build of EMUI 10

The update isn’t widely available yet, but EMUI 10 roadmap confirms update heading to 30+ Huawei models.

Huawei has finally started rolling out stable versions of its EMUI 10 operating system (based on Android 10) for the P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro in Europe.

At IFA 2019, Huawei confirmed the road map for the EMUI 10 update in a session on the new OTA. It appears that the company has plans to seed the OTA to over 30 devices by Q2 2020.

The full update is supposed to first start with the Huawei P30 Pro in Western markets, as we are still unsure which version of the third-party skin will adorn the upcoming Mate 30 series due to the Android licensing and trade currently in place.

Although, several P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro owners in Europe have taken to Reddit to announce they’ve received a final version of the software. The new build is dubbed 10.0.0.168 and weighs a massive 4.47GB, meaning that you should probably make sure you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network before downloading it.

In order to check if you have the stable EMUI 10 update waiting for your P30 Pro or Mate 20 Pro, head to Settings > System > Software updates and check for updates here.

Alternatively, one can also head into the HiCare app and update from there.

P30 Pro EMUI 10

EMUI 10 is Huawei’s newest operating system and was first unveiled at its scheduled Developer Conference back in August. It is easily the Chinese vendor’s best yet, particularly for its new design that makes it easier to use large devices (like the P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro) with one hand by placing the majority of app content towards the middle and bottom of the display.

Users will not only be able to add clock faces and pictures to their always-on display, but Huawei has also launched an always-on display market that’ll provide access to a swathe of designs created by third-parties.

Considering that Huawei phones have always placed a heavy emphasis on their cameras, EMUI 10 does the same. The software dramatically changes the aesthetic of the camera application by introducing a simplified layout that’s more natural overall.

On top of all the standard Android 10 goodies, the EMUI update also brings a few other exciting new features. It comes with a new UI design with a magazine-style layout, an enhanced dark mode, one-touch screen sharing, GPU Turbo upgrades, faster system performance, improved security, and more.

Before the end of the month, Huawei is expected to push the stable EMUI 10 update for the Mate 20 X, Mate 20 RS Porsche Design, Honor 20 series, as well as the Honor Magic 2 in China. However, the global variants of these devices may have to wait until next month to receive a stable update.

Given the issues surrounding Huawei and the US government, it’s unclear if we may face delays in the rollout.
