If you do a lot of streaming or download there is a good chance that you have heard talk of a VPN. You might not know what the term means, but you have without a doubt heard it thrown around. Well, a VPN stands for a virtual private network, and it is nothing more than an extra blanket of security. It is like a digital security guard that will keep everything on your computer private, anonymous, and encrypted. Sounds pretty good, right? It is considering that when you are browsing the Internet or downloading, you can direct everything to go through this VPN. And, this is just one of the many reasons that VPNs are going to be pertinent in 2020.

Betting Pricing

Did you know that you could be potentially getting charged more money when you buy something online just because you are buying it from a 3rd-party? There are even rumors that some sites are charging more for making the same purchases. Heck, you would think purchasing multiple items from the same retailer would garner you a discount. Well, it doesn’t seem that this is the case, and this is where a VPN can come in handy. A VPN will allow you to change your IP address so that these sites can’t access your personal search history.

Prevents Throttling From Your ISP

Not only do you have to worry about people on the web trying to steal your information, but you have to worry about your ISP as well. ISPs are highly known for collecting data on their customers. In fact, some might even sell data to online retailers. That is beside the point, but what you need to know is their claim for doing this is to make your browsing more efficient. Simply put, by knowing this data, they have the ability to throttle your Internet speeds at busy times. This is something that a VPN can prevent because your ISP won’t know which sites you are visiting. This means that you can freely visit sites like Football League Tables and not worry about any repercussions.

Access To Worldwide Content

It is possible that just because you are outside of the United States, you are restricted from viewing certain sites or playing certain games. For instance, if you are on vacation in the UK, you might not be able to access your online US accounts or e-mail information. This is something that a VPN can change. A VPN will allow you to trick the Internet into thinking that you are still in the states. It does this by routing your request through an American VPN server to make it look like you are in the states.

Secure Public Wi-Fi

How many times have you used your laptop to get online in a coffee shop? Well, did you know that when you do this it makes your information vulnerable? You are basically just opening a portal that would allow individuals with the right knowledge right into your computer. Not with a VPN though. A VPN with a modern encryption protocol could protect you and your data from a number of potential attacks.
