Microsoft is reportedly taking on zoom with 49 on-screen video callers on its roadmap to match Zooms current limit. Microsoft has been constantly working every day to improve the video calling while striving to take lead in facilitating smooth working and learning as people strive to adjust to the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, the company has not confirmed when the upgrade will be rolled out.

Video conferencing facilities have been effective in ensuring learning and the meetings happen uninterrupted. This week, Microsoft has rolled out Teams and Skype for Consumer interoperability.

In May, the tech giant upgraded Teams video-call participants from four to nine in its push to capitalize on Teams’ growth as video conferencing becomes the new norm.

According to an engineer at Microsoft Teams, “We are continuing to work to include more videos during a meeting, as well as enabling support for mobile devices. Hence, the ‘partially done’ status,”

“We are continuing to work to include more videos during a meeting, as well as enabling support for mobile devices. Hence, the ‘partially done’ status,” the Microsoft engineer wrote.

“The Teams user forum that it’s current 3 by 3 format is a start but not good enough” the engineer added.

Several teachers and instructors have commented on the forum that nine simply isn’t enough to support their remote classroom activities.

Microsoft has touted its record in security and privacy to promote Teams and in leaked internal marketing videos where it has considered Zoom an emerging threat to Teams.

The Wallstreet Journal early this week reported that a team of Microsoft staffers worked with administrators and teachers across New York’s school district to convert them to Microsofts Teams.
