The Asus Zenbook Flip 13 also called Asus ZenBook UX363EA is a 1.3 kg lightweight laptop with chassis and lids made of diamond-cut aluminum alloy.

ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 has a 360° ErgoLift hinge design, for easy flipping to any position for various types of tasks either as a laptop or tablet. As an Asus quality standard, the ZenBook UX363EA maintains a uniform look like many other ZenBooks and comes in Pine Grey with a metallic finish, good memory, and a bigger display screen, plus long-lasting battery life.

TechMoran received a new review unit which retails from Ksh 145,000 at Elevetus Technologies Ltd. We will be digging into what one can do with such a machine, but first:-

What is in the box?

-Laptop

-a 65W USB Type-C power brick

-ASUS Pen or Stylus,

Battery Performance

We charged our review unit to full capacity and used it for hours for normal programs such as typing, web browsing, reading documents, watching videos, and listening to music. The 67Watt hour battery lasted 12 hours and a few minutes on maximum use.

For creatives and designers, the ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 has a great battery and can withstand the tasks without plugging in the charger. The maximum the battery could go on heavy use was 7 hours which is still good for a work laptop.

The 67-watt-hour battery allows users focus on their work the entire day. But if anything happens, the ZenBook Flip 13 has a fast charge function that charges the battery from 0% to 60% in less than 50 minutes. The laptop’s USB-C® Easy Charge supports a wide range of standard USB-C chargers (5V-20V).

Design and Display

ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 has a 13.3-inch FHD OLED touchscreen with a 1920 x 1080 resolution giving users a high color accuracy. The display is also calibrated to accurately reproduce colors in a 3D color volume.

ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 display also features a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio with a brightness that gives creators a brighter and more detailed viewing experience. Users enjoy accurate color reproduction which is great for eye comfort and long screen use.

The display is great for work and media consumption.

Hardware and Performance

Our review unit has an 11th generation Intel® Core processor with Intel Iris® Xe integrated graphics which promise better computing performance for work and play.

Though thin and light, the Flip’s chassis holds a 1TB PCIe® 3.0 NVMe SSD as well as Thunderbolt™ 4, HDMI 1. 4 and USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports. The SSD or Intel Optane storage makes the PC feel far more responsive and speeds up the launch and load times.

To fit into its size, the Flip’s processor and internal memory are permanently fixed on the motherboard and gives little space for air conditioning thereby your machine heats up when used for a longer period.

For connectivity, the ZenBook Flip 13 has a built-in Intel WiFi 6 wireless network card which offers speeds of up to 2.4 Gbps and also comes with a Bluetooth 5.0 for connection to Bluetooth-enabled devices.

ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 features two Thunderbolt™ 4 USB-C® ports, each Thunderbolt 4 port can support up to 40 Gbps data bandwidth and dual 4K or single 8K display output, and USB 4.0 compatibility.

It also offers a standard HDMI 1.4 port, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port for easier connections, storage, and multi-use. The laptop’s on-board design requires an edge-to-edge keyboard design, therefore we lose the traditional 3.5 mm audio jack. There is a USB-C® to 3.5 mm dongle for users who want to connect via a 3.5 mm audio jack.

ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 is thin and for that matter heats up really first and slows when heavy applications are loaded. The processor works well on average music and media consumption use. However, we can not call it a work beast as yet.

Verdict

As an Asus brand, ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 is a premium design and has powerful processing power for personal or business use. Apart from the processing power, its battery life is incredible and can last an entire day.

ASUS ZenBook Flip 13 UX363’s display has a great display screen with FHD resolution making it a great tool for users in the hands of creatives it has been designed for.
