Docspert Health, a promising telemedicine startup with offices in the UK and Egypt, has successfully closed Six-Figure (USD) investment in seed funding from Flat6Labs and a group of angel investors in the UK and USA.

The firm will use the investment to expand its services all across Egypt, and then the Arabian Gulf.

Launched in February 2020 by a team of medical doctors, Docspert Health aims to connect patients in the Middle East and Africa with leading international medical experts—online and through video conferencing—and so removing the need, cost and effort of travel.

According to Prof. Hisham Mehanna, Chairman of Docspert Health and a world-renowned head and neck cancer surgeon, “We are extremely pleased to have closed this deal with a group of angel investors from Silicon Valley and London. The investors were particularly attracted not only to our innovative platform and business model, but also to our ethos of social responsibility. They were keen to help Docspert Health in its journey to provide the best medical advice to the people of the Middle East and Africa.”

The health-tech startup provides services in over 40 medical specialties through a network of more than 100 hand-picked leading international medical experts in the UK, USA, and Europe.

Docspert Health is currently taking part in Flat6Labs Cairo’s on-going cohort and is getting ready to showcase its massive success at Flat6Labs Cairo’s Fall 2020 Demo Day, which is scheduled to take place in February 2021.

Muhammed Chaudhry, Managing Partner at MAC Capital Partners, California, commenting on the occasion, said, “As investors, we were attracted to Docspert Health, not only for its great business model and the supreme quality of its service, but also for the social good and impact that it does.”

Albert Malaty, Managing Director of Flat6Labs Cairo, said,

“Docspert’s innovative global health tech platform, alongside their strong founding team, adds up to a recipe for success. Flat6Labs Cairo is looking forward to being part of their growth journey.”

Using Docspert’s innovative platform, patients are able to book video conference appointments with a specialist, a medical opinion, or a multi-disciplinary opinion for complex cases, eg cancer, from a panel of up to 4 experts from complementary disciplines who convene to discuss the case and give a joint opinion. Patients are also assisted throughout their journey by a dedicated Arabic speaking case manager.

Docspert Health’s main mission is to make international expert medical opinions accessible to everyone in the Middle East and Africa, and hence it has dedicated 5% of its profits to provide free consultations for patients who cannot afford the service. “The founders are all clinicians, and so helping people is in Docspert Health’s DNA,” said Prof. Mehanna.
