Google Facing A $5 Billion Lawsuit After Judge Finds That Data Could Still Be Collected Even In Incognito Mode

Google is facing a $5 billion lawsuit after judge found that data could still be collected even in incognito mode.

Google has been trying to get their lawsuit dismissed after they were accused of collecting users’ data on internet activity even when they browse in a browser’s private incognito mode. Can you imagine the times you’ve gone incognito mode? you probably did so because you weren’t expecting your data to be shared by anyone, the idea is that whatever you search while you’re on there is private, yet Google may have been breaching this.

US District Judge Lucy Koh in San Jose stated that the tech giant company had not revealed to users that their data could be tracked in incognito mode which made it illegal.

If you’ve ever used Google analytics you find that there’s so much information Google has about people, this include the type of devices they use, their behaviour and even interests based on this information digital marketers are able to fine tune their ads to the specific group of people which is great thing but how much is too much data?

$5 billion lawsuit.

Due to the violation of privacy laws the lawsuit now seeks at least $5 billion from Google and its parent company, Alphabet, alleges the company surreptitiously collects data through Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager, website plug-ins and other applications, including mobile apps.

Google has however argued that every time a person goes incognito they are usually alerted that the websites may be able to collect information about their browsing activity which would then beat the purpose of privacy.
