Zoom now has an SDK you can build into your app
The new Zoom SDK will help developers build Zoom into their own software and integrate its audio and video features directly into your apps. Zoom says developers can now build their own “video-based applications and websites.” With its SDK (Software Development Kit) Zoom is opening a world of new possibilities for its product. The company envisions that developers will be keen to utilize Zoom’s core chat functions in social media platforms, gaming, or virtual retail applications.
“Using our Video SDK, developers can drive customer engagement and provide new opportunities for revenue without being tied to the Zoom Meetings user interface,” writes Zoom product marketing manager Natalie Mullin in a company blog post.
Zoom is working hard to attract developers and invite them to integrate its product into their own. On top of the SDK, the company is also introducing a centralized portal for developers to learn about and access several tools that Zoom is now providing to them. There also is a new analytics dashboard for developers to monitor how users are using the integrated Zoom features.
Zoom is one of several tech companies that saw its activity grow significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic changed the way we all work and interact with each other.
