Huawei has centered its devices on HarmonyOS and has been instrumental in creating the new operating system. However, there are still a lot of Huawei Android phones out there, for which the company has promised a substantial software upgrade.
In recent months, many users of older Huawei cellphones that still run Android have felt let down. Despite the Chinese company’s promise of upgrades, they were the exception rather than the rule. In addition, HarmonyOS is still not accessible as an update in Africa. The Huawei Nova 9 and Nova 8i are fresh new smartphones that run Android 11 and EMUI 12. This upgrade should now be available for a slew of other Huawei handsets.

Huawei aims to provide extremely old versions like the P20 Pro and even the Mate 10 Pro, in addition to new models like the Mate 40 Pro or P40 Pro. It’s unknown if Android 11 will come pre-installed. EMUI 12 comes preloaded with Android 11 on the Nova 9 and Nova 8i. Huawei, on the other hand, might simply deploy the new UI and leave the old Android version alone.
Huawei is expected to release EMUI 12 upgrades for its older Android handsets in the first half of 2022, according to the current plan. It might take more than half a year for the update to reach you, depending on the model. There will be beta tests first to confirm the function.
