Microsoft warns billions of Google Chrome users to stop using it immediately.

Google Chrome is the most widely used web browser

Microsoft has advised Windows users to stop using Google Chrome and instead use Edge.

Edge, released in 2015, is Microsoft’s browser that aims to compete with Google Chrome on Windows 10 and the recently released Windows 11.

Microsoft has begun sending alerts to users of the dominant browser Google Chrome who visit it, encouraging them to download Edge instead.

“Microsoft Edge runs on the same technology as Chrome, with the added trust of Microsoft,” one of the alerts says.

Another amusing pop-up says, “That browser is so 2008!” Do you want to know what’s new? Edge by Microsoft.”

Edge uses the same technology as Google Chrome; however, unlike the previous Internet Explorer browser, Edge uses the Google-created Chromium platform.

According to Microsoft, it makes browsing faster and more streamlined.

Despite this, it does not appear to have even made a dent in Google Chrome’s browser market share.
