SemaBOX has introduced WAZO, a novel podcast distribution platform, as part of its podcast incubation studio.
The platform’s primary objective is to assist podcasters within SemaBOX’s network in expanding their audience and maximizing their opportunities for monetization.
Being the leading producer of podcasts in Kenya in terms of both quantity and content, SemaBOX has firmly established itself as a frontrunner in the podcasting industry.
“We are thrilled to announce that our podcast distribution platform, Wazo, has officially taken flight! We are beyond grateful for the overwhelming support and turnout we received at our launch event,” noted SemaBOX via its official Twitter account.
The company has an impressive track record, having produced 340 shows with a total of 1,074 episodes that are currently available on its website, in 35 countries with more than 60 million listens.
Founded by Dan Aceda, a Kenyan musician and entrepreneur, SemaBOX empowers creators through its podcasting studio, which provides services such as production, curation, and distribution across various podcast platforms.
By launching WAZO, SemaBOX aims to further solidify its position as Africa’s premier podcast studio and distribution platform.
The platform’s innovative technological solutions will connect creators, listeners, and advertisers, fostering a thriving podcasting ecosystem.
In attendance were renowned podcasters in Kenya for instance, Mark Maasai with The Social Newsroom podcast and Adelle Onyango the founder and creator of Legally Clueless podcast.
Ms Onyango noted, “The thing that legacy media couldn’t give me that podcasting has given me is ownership! The second is monetization, not a salary. Third, it allows for creative freedom, in content creation and even marketing.”
