Apple Pay, a mobile payment service by Apple Inc.has officially launched in Morocco with a mission to provide convenient payment options for customers.
Apple Pay allows users to make payments in person, in iOS apps, and on the web. It is supported on iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, and Mac.
According to a statement on the companys website,two major banks in Morocco, Crédit immobilier et hôtelier (CIH) and Crédit Agricole Group of Morocco (CAM) Bank, now support Apple Pay.
The payment service was first introduced on the African continent in 2021, in South Africa. With this launch, Morocco becomes the second African country, to have access to Apple Pay’s services.
The app allows users to add their Mastercard credit cards and bank cards to the Wallet app on their compatible iPhone or Apple Watch. This allows them to make contactless payments at any compatible payment point. Furthermore, various apps and websites also accept Apple Pay as a convenient payment method.
Users can follow simple steps to add a credit or debit card to Apple Pay. They can open the Wallet app on their iPhones, tap the “+” icon in the top right-hand corner, and follow the on-screen instructions to add their cards. For iPad users with Touch ID, cards can be added to apps by accessing “Settings” and then “Wallet & Apple Pay.” Users can add cards by accessing the Watch app on their iPhones. It is worth noting that these features are available on devices running iOS 12 and above.
The Moroccan mobile payment ecosystem now boasts more than 20 market players that have implemented payment solutions enabling cash in and cash out, point of sale payment, money transfer and bill payments.
The launch of Apple pay into the market is intended to allow convenient payment options for customers and provide a seamless and secure payment experience.
