Mark Zuckerberg has made a significant announcement regarding WhatsApp’s latest enhancement—the official launch of its screen-sharing feature.

In a recent Facebook post, Mr Zuckerberg shared the news that WhatsApp users can now enjoy the capability to share their screens while engaged in video calls.

This unveiling follows an earlier report that highlighted the successful beta testing phase of the screen-sharing feature in video calls.

While Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (formerly Facebook), didn’t explicitly specify the global reach of this release, the fact that the screen-sharing feature has undergone over a month of beta testing strongly suggests that users worldwide can expect access to this feature from today onwards.

With this update, WhatsApp joins the ranks of platforms such as Teams, Google Meet and Zoom, which already offer screen-sharing functionalities for sharing documents during video calls.

To utilize this feature, users simply need to tap or click on the ‘Share’ icon and select the desired app or their entire screen to share.

This mirrors the familiar functionality of screen sharing on well-known video conferencing platforms like Google Meet and Zoom.

The new screen-sharing option holds the promise of a more seamless experience, especially when it comes to reviewing documents during calls.

It’s important to note that users have complete control over this feature. While the content of your screen is continuously shared throughout the video call, you can pause or halt sharing at any point. Moreover, your screen content is only visible to others once you grant permission.

According to a TechCrunch report, WhatsApp intends to introduce the screen-sharing feature gradually, and it’s now progressively rolling out across all app versions—Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop.

This confirms the global release of the feature, albeit through a phased approach.
