The highly anticipated Cybertruck Delivery Event in Austin has been set to happen in November 30. However, it comes with a twist.
Javier Verdura, Tesla’s global product design director, has hinted at the amount of Cybertrucks that will be delivered. Verdura took the stage at a recent event in Monterrey, Mexico, and according to the Mexican daily Milenio, the executive stated that just the first ten Cybertrucks will be unveiled on November 30 at the Cybertruck Delivery Day event in Texas.
Interestingly, Tesla has made similar moves in the past. When the Model 3 was first introduced in 2017, only 30 vehicles were handed over to company employees on delivery day.
In other Tesla Cybertruck news, it has been revealed that the pickup will carry a 1,134 kg payload. In comparison, depending on the engine and settings, the Silverado 1500 and F-150 can only manage 1,025 kg and 1,114 kg, respectively. When compared to its electric competitors, the F-150 Lightning has a towing capacity of 1,014 kg with the Standard Range battery and 885 kg with the Extended Range pack. The Rivian R1T can handle 798 kg while the Silverado EV performs much worse, with a payload of 590 kg.
The Cybertruck has a towing capacity of 4,990 kg. While this is no small accomplishment, it falls short of the performance of its gasoline-powered competitors. The Ford F-150 can haul up to 6,123 kg, while the Silverado 1500 manages a slightly lower 6,033 kg.
