Microsoft Copilot is now available as a standalone app for Android only

Microsoft has quietly released a Copilot app for Android. The new app is accessible on the Google Play Store and provides access to Microsoft’s AI-powered Copilot without requiring the Bing mobile app.

According to Neowin, Copilot has been accessible on Android for over a week, but an iOS version is not yet ready.

Copilot is a new Microsoft platform that is essentially a rebranded Bing Chat with additional capabilities packed in. Microsoft has ditched the Bing Chat branding, allowing Copilot to be more of a stand-alone experience similar to ChatGPT with its own dedicated domain at copilot.microsoft.com.

Copilot is a ChatGPT enhanced with chatbot features, picture generation via DALL-E 3, and the ability to draft text for emails and documents. It also offers free access to OpenAI’s most recent GPT-4 model, which you must pay for if you use ChatGPT. Copilot is also baked into Windows OS, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams and many more platforms.

While there is no indication of an iOS version of Copilot at the moment, expect it to be right around the corner. Until then, you can access the existing Copilot capabilities by using the Bing app on an iPhone or iPad.
