Netflix recently inked a $5 billion deal with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for exclusive rights to certain events like RAW in some regions, however, SuperSport fans in Sub-Saharan Africa can rest assured their WWE fix is safe.

MultiChoice, owner of SuperSport, confirms their existing contract with WWE remains unaffected by the Netflix deal.

Netflix’s ten-year agreement with WWE includes select international rights, including a future home for Raw in the US, Canada, Latin America, and other markets starting January 2025.

This follows the end of WWE’s domestic deal with Comcast.

Despite recent reports suggesting Netflix would become the exclusive WWE hub outside the US, MultiChoice clarifies that SuperSport’s Sub-Saharan Africa rights secured in 2017 and expanded in 2019 are independent and remain intact.

While SuperSport’s immediate WWE grip isn’t threatened, Netflix’s entry into live events could be a long-term concern for the pay-TV giant.

The streaming giant’s financial muscle, alongside other players like Google, Disney, and Amazon, could eventually challenge SuperSport’s dominance in the region.
