Sub-Saharan Africa has the highest proportion of women entrepreneurs in the world

2015W2.1The Global Entrepreneurship MonitorĀ  Global Report (GEMGR) assesses the state of entrepreneurship in the world. The 2013 GEMGR report shows that there are proportionally more women entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) than other world regions. In Ghana, 28% of women are entrepreneurs as compared to only 10% in the USA and 3% in France. The ratio of men to women entrepreneurs is almost equal in most SSA countries, with female entrepreneurs outnumbering their male counterparts in countries like Ghana, Nigeria and Zambia.
