Common Enterprise Security Updates To Consider in 2021

Enterprise-level organizations can’t afford to underestimate their security—both cybersecurity and physical security. Every business needs physical security to protect their stores and valuables, not to mention to make their customers feel safe and employees comfortable in the workplace. Enterprise organizations often have dozens, if not more, locations to keep track of, and they all need to be well-protected.

Every business needs cybersecurity as well, and it’s always a nightmare if a breach compromises data or your company’s reputation. Enterprises have thousands of web pages that are open to attack at any moment, not to mention all the databases of corporate data and customer data. If any of it leaks, it’s a PR disaster at best, and it could be much worse.

Enterprise companies can’t afford to get lax in the coming year regarding their security. Here are some of the most common upgrades you can expect to see in 2021.

Endpoint Security

Nothing has taken center stage in the IT world during 2020 like endpoint security. Put simply, endpoint security is meant to protect the endpoints on a network, which refers to the actual devices the network is connected to. An endpoint is any connected personal device like a desktop, smartphone, tablet, laptop, and even IoT devices. Endpoint management has been important for IT departments for a while now because of businesses moving to SaaS vendors for cloud capabilities while pursuing their digital transformations. Endpoints are popular to attack since hackers and other entities can compromise not only the device itself but also the network it’s connected to.

As you can probably imagine, the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 has made the need for strong endpoint security even greater. Many more workers are now working from home on their own devices instead of ones your organization can provide and control. There’s no doubt that companies that aren’t using a virtual private network (VPN) will start as soon as possible. VPNs give employees on laptops, mobile phones, and other third-party devices the same level of communications security as on-premises devices do. Endpoint detection and response (EDR) technology is also likely to have more widespread adoption, and it can instantly detect compromised devices and send out security alerts.

Camera Systems

Much like the apartment cameras installed by ButterflyMX, every enterprise needs a reliable camera system. The ButterflyMX camera system is more than a video intercom. It includes smartphone integrations with cloud-based applications that can be used by tenants, property managers, and building owners. This way, you’ll always know exactly who’s getting access to the building, and you can even create QR codes and PINs to grant authorized visitors access.

Large enterprises are also gravitating toward cloud-enabled security cameras for their buildings. These cameras have fewer security vulnerabilities compared to traditional IVR systems. This is because cloud cameras have two keys: one stored on the camera’s SSD and one in the cloud. Both are needed to access the camera’s secrets, so these systems are practically hack-proof. Easy integrations even make it easy for business owners to monitor the camera feed from any authorized tablet or device.

Master Data Management

Data is one of the most valuable resources an enterprise organization has, but you’ll need effective master data management (MDM) to make the most of it. You may be wondering, what is MDM? Master data refers to all of the shared data across your applications. This shared data is extremely common with integrated systems. For example, if you have a CRM program that shares customer data with your sales system, that’s master data. MDM seeks to gather real-time, secure data in one location, so you always have the best data available to draw insights from.

Having integrated systems with an MDM service also helps protect you against data loss, which is bad for productivity and can even lead to a data breach. The nature of business is changing thanks to an increasingly remote workforce, and it’s likely we’ll see security threats and solutions evolve even more in 2021.

VPN for the enterprises.

You might not know it, but VPN is also necessary for the security reasons. A VPN will offer speedy connections, a larger server connection, Apps for different platforms, protection for cloud environments. Check out the privacyonline to find out more about the VPN for the enterprise.
