The foldable smartphone market is still in its infancy stages, and currently, it is Oppo who wants to steer it to maturity. Oppo is working on a low-cost foldable clamshell smartphone set to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip.
Samsung started this game with its flip/Foldable gadgets. Huawei follows suit with its Huawei P50 Pocket, and currently, Oppo is also expected to follow the same walk. The SamMobile website discovered an indiscretion on Weibo that informs us that the company is considering a clamshell smartphone comparable to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip.
Only a few individuals have access to information about this project. According to the insider, the phone may be introduced this year. Like the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 4, this foldable Oppo smartphone would be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+, the company’s next-generation processor set to year-end power flagships.
It is also worth noting that the Chinese manufacturer will release its foldable phone at 5000 yuan (about 713 euros) without VAT. This was already the case with the Oppo Find N, which was released towards the end of 2021 and was more powerful and less expensive than the Galaxy Z Fold.
