According to DVB(Digital Video Broadcasting), this new standard will be based on the HEVC codec, facilitating the distribution of the 8K support. The foundation will be based on the HEVC or H.256 video codec, which leverages 4K for transmission. Both transport stream and DVB-DASH broadband will enable 8K UHD.

The 8K DVB  is a broadcast signal standard extensively used worldwide, particularly in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Australia. North America accelerated the adoption of 8K in 2020 using the alternative standard ATSC 3.0( NextGen TV).

The brands and models of televisions expected to be the first to support this initiative have yet to be revealed. Nonetheless, there is a slim likelihood that 8K TV channels may develop quickly in Europe shortly.

More sophisticated codecs, such as AV1, AVS3, and VVC, should be added in future editions and support dynamic range and high frame rates. The next edition of the Versatile Video Coding codec is expected to appear early next year.
