Top Tips for Starting a Business

0

It is a step that more and more people seem to be taking, but don’t be misguided into thinking that starting your own business is easy.

On the contrary, it’s never been more difficult. Sure, the power of the internet means that you could effectively start a business up from your bedroom in record speeds, but making this successful has, and always will be, almightily difficult.

The purpose of today’s article isn’t to replace Forbes or another specialist business publication, but instead to provide some hard and fast tips on what to look out for when you start your business. We won’t overload you with suggestions, but keep in mind the following four and you’ll do the chances of success the power of good.

Keep an eye on cashflow

The C-word is one of the most crucial elements of a business, but one that so many people forget and ultimately, fall victim to.

In short, you might be doing a grand job of drumming up custom, but if the money isn’t subsequently flowing in you are going to be in all sorts of trouble. Make sure your payment terms are strict and suppliers aren’t taking advantage.

Make sure you have the infrastructure to start with

We spoke about bedroom businesses in our introduction to today’s guide, but in reality you need to be more prepared for this. Sure, bedrooms might satisfy some types of businesses, but particularly if you are selling physical products or entertaining clients you will need some sort of infrastructure.

In relation to the former, this might be Safestore storage lockups for the stock that you are holding. Or, if you are more of a service-led business, perhaps you’ll need an office to receive clients. Regardless, infrastructure can be important, and without it your business might be on a hiding to nothing.

(This includes your own personal infrastructure)

When we talk about infrastructure, it can sometimes relate to your own conditions as well. Sure, having an office and storage space is essential, but you also need means to afford this.

This is why it is crucial to have the financial and emotional support before launching your business. In relation to finances, try and ensure that your own personal bank account has enough money in it so you don’t feel the pressure to build profits from day one. A lot of people suggest that you should build this emergency fund up to six months’ worth of expenses (although we would say the longer the better). Then, when it comes to the emotional factors, make sure your family are on board. This will be a testing time, and you’ll need their support for the longer hours if you are going to succeed.

Avoid the build it and they will come philosophy

Finally, a lot of people enter business and think that because they have taken this giant first step, a boatload of new customers are set to arrive.

As it turns out, without a proper marketing plan, this just isn’t going to happen. Even if you have a physical store, you’ll need to tell people that you have launched – they won’t just stumble upon it unless you have placed it in a ridiculously high footfall area.

YouTube Creates A Feature Where Fans Can Now Donate Money To Their Favourite Creators

0

YouTube is testing a new feature where you can donate money to your favourite creators.

Is it really possible to have a fan that likes you so much that would actually donate money? Most people know that once you hit a certain target on YouTube you can start making money, personally I wouldn’t donate money to a YouTube creator because my assumption would be that he/she has more money than me anyways. However, YouTube has created a new option known as ‘applause’ where fans will be able to purchase an applause animation which they could then allocate to approved YouTube videos.

YouTube Applause

Basically when a fan taps on applaud they donate 200 shillings and 70 % of that goes to the creator while YouTube take the rest.

As explained by YouTube:

You may be able to buy Viewer applause on participating creators’ videos and show your support for YouTube channels. When you buy Viewer applause, you’re purchasing a one-time “clapping” animation that will only be shown to you over the top of the video. More than 100,000 channels have received this new applause button and some streams are earning more than $400 per minute as fans reach out to creators to say hello, send congratulations, or just to connect.

So far YouTube has been using Super Chat which helps to monetize your channel through the YouTube Partner Program.

These features let your viewers purchase chat messages that stand out and, in some cases, pin them to the top of a chat feed. The whole idea is to create an additional revenue opportunity for all YouTube creators. However this new feature has not been tested in most places but only certain countries in Australia, Brazil, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, and USA. To make a purchase, a user will need to start watching a video on youtube.com (desktop) and then click Applaud under the video. A popup will appear, showing the cost of the applause in the user’s country or region. The user will then need to complete the purchase by following the on-screen instructions.  No personal details will be shared with the creator or the public about purchases.

However, this all sounds too good to be true. Personally I would never donate money for a simple applause unless it was to get a visitation with my favourite creator, would you buy into this?

Qualcomm Powers Up 5G With The X60 Modem

0

Qualcomm has introduced its  X60 modem. The Snapdragon X60 will power first 5G phone taking over the current X50 and X55 modems.

The upgrade comes earlier even before carriers around start enrolling to 5G.

The chipsets will be rolled out in premium smartphones in early 2021.

The new modem enables networks to aggregate spectrum across both the faster mmWave 5G band as well as ‘sub-6’. This will basically give you slower speeds but wider coverage.

The new modem chip has also been developed on a smaller manufacturing process (5nm instead of 7nm) so it is much more power-efficient. There should be some positive effect on battery life but obviously that will depend on other aspects of the phone like screen size and refresh rate.

It’s also capable of some impressive download and upload speeds over 5G – 7.5Gbps down and 3Gbps up – though you’ll never recreate this outside of a lab, of course.

Already, UK 5G networks are using sub-6  bands at the moment, but plan to roll out mmWave in cities for higher-capacity coverage in 2020 or 2021.

Many US cities already have mmWave networks but in limited areas, with other US towns and cities using lower-band 5G.

Qualcomm X60 Modem Performance

For average end-users, the new X-series modem lifts the performance floor for global 5G networks. The X60 supports mmWave-sub 6 GHz aggregation, which should allow carriers to bolster 5G service across the spectrum that may not be fully utilized yet.

For mmWave support specifically, the X60 uses the QTM535 module. Like the X60, the QTM535 is the third-generation module in its line, and its main draw is that it’s smaller than the modules that came before. A smaller footprint, in turn, means slimmer or smaller devices.

The X60 also supports frequency division duplex (FDD) and time division duplex (TDD) band types and Dynamic Spectrum Sharing. All of these features essentially mean that the X60 casts a wide net in terms of supporting mmWave, mid-band, and low-band frequencies, with the goal of making the transition between 5G non-standalone and 5G standalone smoother when the time comes.

In addition to the X60, Qualcomm also comes with a new type of radio frequency filter UltraSAW. It offers more performance than bulk-acoustic (BAW) filters operating in the same range – 600 MHz to 2.7 GHz.

UltraSAW offers as much as a 1-decibel improvement over BAW filters, which potentially will allow for “more power-efficient RF paths in 5G and 4G multimode mobile devices.

Google Announces $1m Child Online Safety Fund in Africa

0

Google has announced a $1M pan-African Google.org fund to support innovative ideas around privacy, trust and safety for families online across sub-Saharan Africa. This is in the recognition of the Safer Internet Day.

Ordinarily, The Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally in February each year. It seeks to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. It also aims to inspire a national conversation on digital technology.

Additionally, The company also launched its landmark child online safety programme, Be Internet Awesome, in South Africa, the Netherlands and Nigeria.

Be Internet Awesome teaches kids important skills for surfing the internet, like how to recognise potential online scams. Using the internet securely and safeguarding valuable information. How to identify and refrain from cyberbullying. As well, teach them what to do when coming across questionable content on the internet.

“Children are being exposed to the internet at their most vulnerable age. It is important for us. at Google, to ensure that they do so as safely as possible. At the same time. Teachers and parents will have the chance to use these resources in order to support and guide children as they navigate the Web,” continues Mgwili-Sibanda.

Basically, the program aims to help minors explore the internet safely and confidently. The Google.org grant will also provide funding to help develop further programmes that aim to help children be safe online.

“Google is committed to a safe internet for children. We are also passionate about the empowerment of organisations who share this commitment. The fund will be administered by a third-party partner on behalf of Google.org.  and we will be sharing details on application criteria and deadlines soon,” says Fortune Mgwili-Sibanda, head of public policy and government relations at Google Africa.

Google has worked hand-in-hand with the South African Film and Publications Board (FPB) as a key policy partner in implementing the programme locally.

“The FPB has a responsibility to protect children from exposure to harmful content. Thus plays a leading role in creating awareness around the dangers of the internet,” says Abongile Mashele, Acting Chief Executive Office, FPB.

If you wish to know how to make oil at the cartridges; then the current write up is intended to make you understand the same.

In order to make an oil cartridge, you need to first buy an empty cartridge; which can be readily available at any shop. In fact, some shops also provide empty cartridges, especially for people who like to make their own stuff. If you are one of them then it is extremely easy to fill your e-cig with hash oil; as it can be easily combusted.

So, we have come up with certain tips that will help you to get the most out of your self-made oil cartridges; if in case you are really annoyed with its faster combustion and wish to get rid of these frustrations.

  • The storage is important

It should always be noted that while learning how to make oil cartridges; it is also important to keep the prepared oil cartridges in an upright position. Whereas mouthpiece should always keep facing down the word, while always storing them in a cool and dry place; as leaving your oil cartridge in a hot place or near the burner can lead to its easy evaporation. It would always be better if you store your device in a manufacturer’s box that has an in-built cold storage facility; specifically structured in order to keep combustion of oil at the lowest. If you are storing them at home, you can keep them in your backpack, purse or even they can easily fit into your pocket.

  • You shouldn’t always ask for more

If in case you are traveling to a place that is at a higher altitude, you need to be careful as at higher altitudes; your oil cartridge can always have a faster combustion rate due to increased air pressure. Further to this, chances are there that the performance is significantly altered due to increased leakage at a higher pressure. If you ever wish to take them to higher altitudes, higher quality tanks are better used; which can handle these weather conditions.

  • Use the right equipment

Different types of oil cartridges can be prepared with different features, different designs that are prepared from different threads as well as power levels. Thus, at first instance; you should always match your cartridge with the appropriate container. In that case, even if you find that your cartridge is appropriate for branded containers; it will not be wasting your product. Thus, the right equipment will save a lot of combustion of your oil cartridge for better taste.

  • Leakage free container

That goes without saying that in order to minimize the oil combustion a leakage-free container should always be preferred. If any leakage is noticed in the cartridge it is always better to replace it with a newer version of the same.

  • Always keep it clean and well-lit

If at all, the pen is not hitting to the extent you want; make sure that the cartridge is well cleaned. You can also check for any obstruction in the pen, and clean it with the same frequency; by a cotton swab dipped in the alcohol. You should keep this point in mind, particularly if you are sharing your pen with your friends. You should also check that the THC is not too thick otherwise it will not provoke any heating.

  • The wick should be properly checked

In order to get better vaporization, it is always better than the cartridge is well dipped in the oil. This can be achieved by turning the cartridge tip upside down, which facilitates the running of oil down the weak. This will make sure that you are getting a better hit.

Reasons You Should Stop Looking For A Relationship Online

0

Have you been looking for a relationship online?

In the quest for love you can try different things and different places including online. Social media has made it super easy to connect with people worldwide which is a good thing but at the same time it means that you have failed the old fashioned way and you’re trying something new. The problem with the online space is that most people seem to be looking for a quick fix instead of something real. It is easier to obviously communicate with someone online than meet with them physically, but eventually you will probably land in the following problems.

1. It can turn sexual real fast

There are a lot of men out there that assume the date is just something to get through to get to the sex after. This can happen on any date, regardless if you met online or not. I once joined Tinder for a few days and came out simply because the guys that hit on me wanted a quick fix, especially foreigners who were around for a few days and just wanted to feast on a Kenyan girl then go back.

2. Some people on social media are pathological liars

People lie about whether they’re even single, if they have kids, their job, their looks, you name it. But how are you supposed to know if they’re the real deal? It’s different when you know them from work or your friends. You can always do a little investigating about whether they are in fact single, what they do for a living and so on. That’s very hard to do online. You have no choice but take their word for it, at least for the time being.

3. Long-distance is not easy

You have no idea if anything that person has said about themselves or in their profile is accurate, ie., “loves children” and you also don’t know if that person isn’t having a long distance relationship with someone else or several other people for that matter. Building trust in such a situation is almost impossible because they can even have someone physically with them anyways.

4. People can look real different in person

Even if you post real pictures of yourself in your profile, people can look different in person. The trouble with online dating is that when you do finally decide to meet, there can be so much emphasis on the whole looks thing. Unfortunately human beings are visual human beings, so if you lied about your height, weight or lied that the wig on your picture was your hair, it can be a big problem.

5. It’s a lot harder to sell your personality in an online space

There are so many tutorials that tell you what to say or what to do so that you don’t scare the other person because let’s face it, there are enough weirdos in the online community. It’s a lot easier to try and court someone you’ve seen physically then you can decide if you like their personality than trying to sell yourself. The online dating world sends the message to people that you’re not good enough the way you are.

How To Tell If Someone Is Faking It On Social Media

0

How can you tell if someone is faking it on social media?

We’ve all admired people on social media. You look at their glossy images, their very motivating quotes and captions and think “wow I want to be like them”. But over time I have come to realize that more people are fake on social media than you would actually believe. Living it up for the gram is very popular and especially in our generation where people would rather die than post anything that’s real. You need to remember that people will always give you the edited parts of their life and never their reality.

If you are unsure whether someone online is real, ignore the curated version and follow these five tips:

1. Follow their story

There are people on social media who flaunt their success but never really tell you where they came from and how they gathered all this so called wealth. Most people on social media are hell bent in sharing their best pictures with the best captions but no one really gives you valuable tips unless they actually have a real story to tell. The questions you should be asking are where have they come from? How did they get so successful? Where did they start and what was their journey? Ideally they should be sharing this online as they will have nothing to hide.

2. Look for proof

By this we mean look at their engagement rate, if the brand or person you’re following is influential then it will most certainly show. Some people have over 100k followers but really low engagement, when you look for evidence, testimonials, reviews, recommendations and referrals from others what are you likely to find. The number of followers they have and what people say about the brand or person will tell you a lot.

3. Lurk online

You need to do your own amount of snooping especially if it’s someone who is trying to sell themselves as a certain brand type. Once you start monitoring their content make sure you listen to interviews, articles reading comments from others as well as the social media posts to see if it marries up with all they are saying.

4. Do they share the highs and lows of their life?

Any quality kind of person on social media who is not just doing it for the gram has a way of sharing their highs and lows without necessarily sharing too much. Start monitoring more that their instastories but look out for the whole story. If they can share the lows and highs of their success and business, they are showing the full 360 picture.

5. What kind of people follow them?

When you try and reach out how do they interact with you? As shady as this may sound, checkout their grammar and see if they are also willing to respond and also interact with you on a person level. If it’s a business does someone get back to you if you email? If they do a live video, do they take the time to say hello? Is there a way you can ask questions and talk to them first? We all need reassurance that a person or brand is real and so there should be a good customer service in place.

Although it doesn’t provide that kind of brightness that reaches its lofty HDR 600 rating, it delivers just fine for its price. If you are looking for the best 4K monitors for 2020, then the Philips Brilliance 328P monitor is definitely going to be one of them.

#4: LG Ultrafine 24MD4KL – more than fine

If you are also a 4K fan, you will definitely find a lot to love in this monitor, especially if you are a videographer or photographer who needs all that prime luxury and real estate high resolution. From its color accuracy and 4K resolution to its decent USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 ports, and lovely buttonless design, this monitor has proved to be just the perfect match for your ultrabook and Mac computers.

However, this monitor may not be as affordable as some other monitors on this list, it is definitely worth every penny spent on it. You just can’t resist it.

#5: Acer Predator XB3 – great gaming monitor

This is just the best 4K monitor for gamers who need that high resolution but don’t have so much interest in an ultrawide screen.

This 24-inch XB3 model monitor is a truly fantastic, HDR, sporting G-Sync monitor that can reach 144Hz when rightly setup. If you don’t need an ultrawide screen for your gaming sessions, this monitor with its multiple adjustment options for both color/brightness and positioning will wow you.

When it comes to color accuracy and HDR-enabled brightness, this XB3 performs exceedingly well. However, the only downside you need to watch out for in this monitor is that the menu controls, that use a collection of buttons and a joystick, are a bit difficult to reach and use without some prior practice.

How to Supercharge Growth with Social Media Giveaways

0

Have a look at the following stats:

  • Up to 70% growth can be boosted in the presence of social media giveaways.
  • For less than seven days, the majority of the social media giveaways run.

I am sure you will not require finding another strategy that can speed up the growth process, and the reason is that giveaways have become highly famous on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook because they work.

Well, it is not a good thing that huge numbers of brands already have wasted the growth by failing to follow up. Definitely, with a giveaway, you can raise the follower count as well as engagement reach. However, if you need to put those figures in for the long run, then get ready for lots of effort.

Here, you will get to know everything you must do and must not do.  From ad strategy to brand safety, prepping the design to following up, social media policy to stats, it is all here. Let’s dive into it:

Design Giveaways with Right Text, Graphics, and Tags

For useful social media posts, you know that visuals are a principle element. Whether you like photos, videos, text, graphs, charts, gifs, or even animations, the right content can raise the engagement immensely.

According to a report in 2019, content including videos can smash the text or photo posts by up to 59%. Giveaway posts make it to the top 4 post types as well. So, think about how useful a video post could be with a prize giveaway and an attractive question.

Firstly, for a successful social media giveaway, you need the best design. Also, keep in mind that your giveaway post is not about the contest announcement. You will have to collect comments as well as a winner selection. It is highly necessary to get as much reaction as you can.

Since the graphics are much crucial so, try not to overlook the hashtags or post captions. In order to get user attention and algorithms, you need to optimize the written message.

  • Use relevant keywords
  • Keep your message simple and easy
  • Don’t force the users to jump through hoops.
  • Ask an open-ended question to promote comments.
  • Add a legal disclaimer, also add short links directed to terms and conditions.
  • Use industry-relevant hashtags.
  • Start with branded hashtags if you want to run regular giveaways.

You need hashtag generator to find all kinds of relevant and popular hashtags.

Sponsored Posts for Better Reach

To run a giveaway, there are two main reasons:

  • Give Incentive to your existing audience.
  • Grab new followers and customers.
  • Your strategy depends on your goal. However, it is always worth supporting your giveaway post.

Have a look:

In a case, you want to grab the attention of new followers, for this promoted and sponsored posts can make palpable sense. On the other hand, if you are not interested in the giveaway to show in your feed, you can use dark posts, so that new people can communicate with them.

In order to support the giveaway post, it might be an offset scheme, if you want to interact with the existing audience. However, some essential reasons are there that you might need to support the post.

Visibility

Social networks are limiting brand engagement more and more. Don’t forget to use sponsored posts if you really want your followers to see the contest.

Niche

If you need real and long-run engagement, then it is good to plan for the targeted audience. Choose a niche award and send out particular posts.

Age Limitations

If your brand or service is age receptive, then sponsored posts are the secured way to restrict the audience for the giveaway.

Location Limitations

Several countries have different rules and regulations for online sponsorships. Or else you may have to pay for global transport. Use promoted posts so that local followers can have an opportunity to win the award.

How to Pick a Winner and Finish Up the Giveaway

So, do you have any idea about how you would pick up a winner and finishing the giveaway? Most social media giveaways stay open for a few days only. However, you must continue sharing updates and splashing the contest all the way through that precise space just to maximize reach and interaction.

At your disposal, you must use all the social media tactics. Use Facebook as well as Instagram Stories to run a live countdown. Work on the best replies you got on Twitter. Add a video to the IGTV channel.

To pick up a winner, continue with the social media blitz going on. While commenting, people can yet collaborate with you. The final moment must be as exciting as possible and don’t write a text post or tag the winner. It is all worth doing because nobody can resist using social media giveaways.

Google Cancels Plan to Buy Into Largest African Wind Farm Due to Delay

0

Google has cancelled it’s initial plan to buy into the 310 megawatts Lake Turkana wind farm in Kenya. The project was initially set for completion 2017, after which Google had committed to buy a  12.5 per cent stake from Danish Wind Maker, Vestas.

The investment would have marked  Google’s second project into renewable energy in Africa. In 2013 Google invested $12m into the continent’s largest solar PV plant, a 96MW installation in South Africa.

In a blog, Google said it was “as optimistic as ever” about the potential for clean energy. “We’ve continued to see a big opportunity in fast-growing markets with rich renewable energy resources. Where both the need and the potential are great,”

Buying into the project would help Google accelerate the deployment of renewable energy globally. This includes emerging markets like Kenya, where there is an opportunity to have a transformative impact on the energy grid.

However, this project was halted by a number of delays and Google hasn’t commented on the cancellation.

By 2017, The wind farm was ready for launch but has remained inactive majorly due to delays in installing transmission lines needed to get the clean power to the national grid and customers.

Another barrier was due to demands for compensation from landowners along the route surrounding the 428 km powerline. Later the line further delayed after a Spanish firm contracted to build the line went under.

Due to the unending complications, Vestas has recently confirmed that the Vestas agreement with Google was cancelled in 2019.

“Due to delays relating primarily to the transmission line, the Vestas agreement with Google was cancelled in 2019,” said Vestas.

To add on, “ Vestas’ strategy doesn’t include being a long-term wind park owner.  we’re currently in commercial dialogues with other potential buyers of our shares.”

So far Google has invested $2bn in 22 clean energy projects around the world, including investment in rooftop solar and data centres powered by renewable energy.

Andy Rubin’s Phone Company Essential to Close Down

0

The essential phone has announced its closure 5 years after it was first launched into the market. The phone brand belongs to Andy Rubin Android’s  Co-Creator.

Essential had planned to release several phones among the project GEM, a smart home speaker and its own operating system. This would rival android OS and iOS but end releasing only one handset.

Reportedly, It had been working on an unusual super-slim smartphone called Gem.

In a statement, the company concluded that In October 2019, they introduced Project GEM. This was a new mobile experience its hardware, software and cloud teams have been building and testing for the past few years.

“Our vision was to invent a mobile computing paradigm that more seamlessly integrated with people’s lifestyle needs. Despite our best efforts, we’ve now taken Gem as far as we can. We regrettably have no clear path to deliver it to customers. Given this, we have made the difficult decision to cease operations and shutdown Essential”.

in the statement, the company noted that the security update realised for PH-1 on February 3 will be the last one from the essential team.

As the company winds down,  PH-1 will remain functional. Essential also notes that they will not be able to provide any additional updates or customer support.

Current Newton Mail users will have access to the service through April 30, 2020. For developer fans, a prebuilt of our vendor image and everything else needed to keep hacking on PH-1 will be hosted on  GitHub.

Essential phone brand joins the Windows phone in exiting the market. Microsoft ceased to produce further devices after losing its market domination to the competitors Android OS and iOS.

Microsoft’s Windows Mobile software was one of the top mobile platforms in the 2000s. The company’s mobile decline began with the rise of the iPhone’s far more intuitive iOS and was cemented over several Microsoft software releases that failed to compete with Apple and Google’s rapidly maturing Android OS.

Recently, TCL as announced the end of their agreement with Blackberry a sign that could indicate  Balckberry is exiting the market as well.

There is no further indication of the sudden closure of the company. But chances are they could be moving into a different space.

On Wednesday, Startups founders who participated in a 6-month program in Kenya pitched their fintech ideas that use digital technologies to improve consumers experience,  giving users convenience among other financial digital solutions showcased their projects in from of the audience of investors and fellow entrepreneurs in Nairobi at the Address.

Antler, one of the biggest startup incubators and accelerators expanded in Africa last year establishing its first entrepreneurship program in Nairobi, Kenya.

According to Antler, during the inaugural program, the firm received more than 1200 applications, selected 37 brilliant founders from 13 countries and invested 100,000USD in 4 startups that were built at the program in the past 6 months. The four startups include AIfluence Inc., Digiduka, ChapChapGo and AnyiHealth. All of these brilliant founders met at Antler earlier this year to build their own company.

“I believe each of the founders has inspiring stories to tell, given they all met during the program, came up with the business idea, validated and turned it into a business that raised 100,000USD in only 11 weeks ,”  said  Selam Kedebe, Director of Antler, East Africa

Antler invests US$100,000 for a 20 percent equity stake in each company selected by its investment committee.

Some of the innovative ideas funders generated  during  the  program  seek to  increase access to  healthcare  insurance in Nigeria and Kenya  by offering digital loans, other founders are involved in online marketing using artificial intelligence  other fintech solutions with hope to tap into the  growing Africa’s digital economy

Roy Njoka, co-founder of Digiduka, one of four startups that were founded during the inaugural program says the startup allows local kiosks to become a distributor of digital services.

“This is basically important for people who need to pay in cash,” explained Mr. Njoka “despite the success of mobile money in Kenya there are people who completely avoid it because of the high transaction cost,”

According to the startup founders, the platform allows local kiosks to become resellers of digital services while still accepting cash and keeping the cost low for its customers.

The startup says it offers digital and financial services for the cash economy in Kenya through kiosks.

Harriet Kariuki, a tech entrepreneur and Co-founder of AfriJob, a firm that builds teams for African startups who attended the Nairobi Demo said all ideas pitched are innovative and have potential to become successful.

“There are great products out there that have very innovative and energized entrepreneurs who are solving real African problems   ”

For instance one of the companies is using Artificial intelligence to match brands with influencers which as you can imagine the influencers marketing is growing at a very fast rate in Africa, noted Ms. Kariuki

Following its first program completion in Africa, Antler says that it is now, the world largest startup generator.

“The fact that Antler is enabling such high caliber founders to build these amazing companies in less than 6 months is also something we pride ourselves,” said Ms. Kedede adding that they  hope others would follow suit in order to create a dent in the African and global startup ecosystem.

Google Brings Emoji Mashup Stickers to Gboard on Android

0

Google has rolled out an  Emoji Kitchen to all Gboard users on Android. The feature allows you to express your emotions through emoji from crying and many more.

There are already hundreds of emoji available to cover every emotion from yawning to being a straight-up drunk weirdo.

Google’s emoji kitchen offers a selection of stickers. They combine two existing emoji to create one with a much more specific vibe.

The emoji kitchen is currently available on the Gboard Beta program. Once you get the feature, you should be able to use it in apps. They include WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Snapchat, Gmail, and Messages by Google.

The concept of emoji mashups was first introduced on twitter with the  Emoji Mashup Bot which releases a free iMessage sticker pack. Later the downloads were available on Android for WhatsApp, Telegram, and Gboard.

However, the current Google’s emoji mashup is a little bit different from the mashup bot. Instead, Google designers have created this set of mashups for Gboard specifically rather having them automatically generated by a bot. Emoji kitchen only works with  Google supports, which are mainly variations on the smileys.

Noting from Google, ” you can tap on any smiley emoji, and then Gboard will suggest a suitable set of mashups based on it”

If you’ve ever felt like there just weren’t enough emoji options to express how you’re feeling, the emoji kitchen has your back.

Google has previously made an announcement that it will be highlighting 62 new emoji that would be coming to Android 11. It was set to be launched towards the end of 2019.

Google and Microsoft in the same period partnered to sponsor a  transgender flag emoji with final candidates for Emoji 13.0 including a polar bear, bubble tea, pickup truck, fondue, teapot, and piñata.

The company also proposed all gender variants for “person in the veil” and “person in a tuxedo,”. As well have a “person feeding baby with a bottle. for emoji 13.0

The Benefits of Guarantor Loans

0

Debt is one of the most stressful things you can go through in life. It can not only financially debilitate you but can have untold and severe effects on your health, both physically and mentally. The last thing you may want to do is contemplate taking on more debt. That’s even if you felt it was possible to secure the loan you need.

With a guarantor loan, however, things are a little different. In most cases, there are no credit checks and as long as you have a guarantor with a healthy credit history, you can secure a loan for the money you desperately need. If you have dismissed guarantor loans in the past, it may be time to consider them again. Before you make your decision, either way, look at the main ways you can benefit from this type of loan.

Available Even if You Have a Poor Credit History

It can be incredibly hard to get the finance you need if you have a poor credit rating and history. Many of the traditional lenders tend to run strict credit checks before they will offer loans. This is not the case with guarantor loans. You may not be subject to any credit checks at all. Importantly, though, your guarantor will.

More Flexible

There are not as many restrictions on a guarantor loan, particularly not when it comes to the amount of money you can borrow. The reason being it’s the guarantor with good credit who is providing the building society or bank in question who are offering the loan with the security they need that they would not get from the borrower if dealing with him or her directly. You will normally be allowed to borrow the amount of money you feel most comfortable repaying in a period that best suits you. This is in stark contrast to payday loans where there is a stricter and shorter repayment period.

Easy and Quick Process

Compared to other loan application processes, most find that the procedure involved in applying for guarantor loans is a lot simpler and quicker. After you have completed the documentation successfully and with a guarantor in place, it often only takes around one day for it to be completed. There is also the added bonus of security and a safety net an individual can have, knowing that if they get into further debt or financial difficulty, they have someone to shoulder the burden somewhat.

Can Have a Positive Effect on Your Credit Score

If you have a poor credit history and are looking for a way to boost it, you may think that the last thing you should do is take on another loan. However, in some cases, guarantor loans can be just what your credit score needs if your guarantor has a healthy credit score. As long as you both meet the monthly loan repayments, the agencies who conduct credit score reports will receive a report about how you have performed and that you have been paying off the loan as you agreed and your score is likely to receive a boost.

If you are interested in guarantor loans or any other form of financial product, why not use the comparison service offered by Nowloan.

6 Things Proper Social Media Managers Do

0

There are several people who don’t understand what social media managers do.

As a social media manager I get asked a lot about what I do because there are people who assume that all we do is sit and post content all day. Some people assume that posts will just generate engagement without really strategizing and I was one of those people as well. I used to assume that all social media managers do is post content and I didn’t consider it a real job until I tried it out myself and was astonished by how much work it actually took. But what exactly does a social media manager do? Here are the top things.

1. Copywriting

There’s no way you can convince anyone to read your content or buy your product if you don’t pay attention to the copy. Copywriting is a fundamental skill for social media marketing (and probably all areas of marketing). Writing good copy is required in many areas of a social media manager’s role, from filling up your social media profile description to crafting tweets and Facebook posts. To drive engagement and clicks, you have to fit a captivating story into your social media post and without great copywriting skills that can be difficult.

2. A creative

When you’re a social media manager you need to understand what works for your audience. Most people like visually appealing content so if you post dull content you’re more likely to not grow an audience. There’s no denying that we have moved away from mostly plain text based updates towards visual content such as images and videos.

3. Public speaker

I know this sounds off but it makes sense because as a social media manager you might have to do live videos or even create videos. live videos are becoming more and more important on social platforms. And marketers have noted this change, with a lot more marketers saying they want to create more live videos. If you’re a social media manager, you need to get used to the sound of your voice. Social media managers have to be confident enough to go live on social media to connect with their audience.

4. Conversational skills for customer service

This highly depends on the type of business you’re in but all in all to grow your community you need to be able to communicate with your audience. As the face of your company on social media and the person who is likely to be responding to at least some of the messages your brand receives on platforms like Twitter and Facebook, it’s important for social media managers to have conversational skills and empathy to help you customers on social media.

0

The 2020 Mobile World Congress (MWC) has been cancelled due to the Corona Virus concerns. The event was scheduled to take place from 24th to 27th of February.

The cancellation comes a week after some of the exhibitors and companies have pulled out of MWC.

GSMA CEO John Hoffman in a statement confirmed that the coronavirus outbreak has made it difficult to hold the event.

“With due regard to a safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country. GSMA has cancelled MWC  2020 because of the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances, make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event.”

He added, “The Host City Parties respect and understand this decision. The GSMA and the Host City Parties will continue to be working in unison and supporting each other for MWC Barcelona 2021 and future editions. Our sympathies at this time are with those affected in China, and all around the world.”

LG pulled out of MWC earlier this month, and ZTE cancelled a planned press event over coronavirus fears. Ericsson, one of the largest exhibitors at MWC, also withdrew from the show, before Nvidia, Intel, Vivo, Sony, Amazon, and NTT Docomo all followed and cancelled appearances. Cisco, Nokia, BT, and HMD also cancelled appearances this week.

The event would feature a big Chinese phone maker presence, with all of the country’s major smartphone brands set to appear at the show.

The fight against the novel coronavirus continues to be unstable. The number of people diagnosed in Hubei – where the outbreak emerged is stabilising.  Chinese health officials in the Hubei province have reported 242 new deaths and 14,840 new cases of the flu-like virus.

This brings the worldwide death toll to at least 1,357 and the number of confirmed cases to more than 60,000.

The GSM Association (GSMA), which organizes MWC has decided to cancel the show for the sake of the safety of the participants.

The GSMA represents more than 1,200 companies across the mobile ecosystem. Every year, MWC gives a chance to thousands of brands to network or gather for partnerships, deals, and product launches.

MWC has a big economic impact of up to 492 million euros and also generates 14,100 part-time jobs.

YouTube Might Let You Subscribe to Third-Party Video Streaming Services

0

YouTube is reportedly thinking about offering offer third-party subscriptions to video streaming services like Netflix, CBS and all.

It will give customers a chance to sign up for a wider range of streaming services from other entertainment companies.

Amazon and Apple already allow their customers to access other services. Amazon through it’s Amazon Channels initiative allows  Prime Video subscribers and Fire TV owners to do this, and Apple too via Apple TV.

The two companies then get a cut of revenue from every sign-up. For instance, in 2019 alone, Amazon made $2.6 billion from channel subscriptions.

Suggestively,  Google  could be working around meeting rival Amazon and Apple on toes, by allowing customers to subscribe to other streaming services.

Google recently revealed YouTube Premium and YouTube Music. It has 20 million paid subscribers, while the TV package has over two million subscribers.

To add on, YouTube has two billion monthly users who watch and upload millions of hours of content for free.

Add it all up, and it certainly seems likely that YouTube would want to develop ways to further entice customers away from the likes of Apple and Amazon while also generating a new, lucrative revenue stream.

It’s a good business that Google is becoming more interested in as its subscription service on the YouTube side grows in general.

From close sources, YouTube has talked with several entertainment companies about adding their services.  However, the status of the talks, held over the past several months, isn’t known.

A good percentage of YouTubers use other streaming services. While people who have access to streaming services, both paid and ad-supported. YouTube has the advantage of being able to lean on its advertising revenue.  And it’s Google’s larger revenue to offset costs and possible losses.

Typically, the idea might take-off based on the fact that YouTube has 2 billion monthly users spending millions of hours watching content.  500 hours of video are uploaded every minute

3 Free Online Games Inspired by Traditional Casino Games

When we talk about games nowadays, we mostly discuss titles released for gaming consoles or PCs. However, one game type that has been popular much longer than the ones we play using computers is casino games.

In fact, their popularity is so big that the casino industry made an impact on numerous game developers who decided to make titles more or less inspired by casinos. Let’s take a look at some of the online games that resemble casino games you can play for free. Read on!

Free Slot Games

Slots are so popular nowadays that there are literally thousands of available titles you can play on the web. However, the majority of them are only available if you make a deposit and bet real money.

Yet, some game lovers and creators understood that people sometimes play slots not for monetary rewards but for fun. That’s how free slots, such as House of Fun freebies, became available on the web.

The difference between free coin slots and paid ones is not that great. The general rules are pretty much the same — your goal is to make combos by spinning the reels of the slot machine. However, free slots rely on free coins you can use in the game to unlock new features, buy new skins for the game, and more.

Free Bingo Games

Bingo is not a casino game per se, but it definitely involves the gambling factor, as well as the element of luck. Even though not many casinos offer bingo, there are stand-alone sites that focus only on this type of entertainment.

One of the reasons why bingo is popular in the first place is because it’s focused on building a community. Bingo halls are usually where we play games, but we also go there to hang out with people and have a good time.

That’s why free online bingo platforms, such as Bingo Blitz, pay special attention to the community. All you have to do is connect the platform to your Facebook account and start your bingo journey around the world — literally.

Bingo Blitz offers several different in-game places where you can play the game, including Catalina, New York, Sydney, and more. If you like meeting new people, this is a great opportunity to hang out with other Facebook users while you play the game you love for free.

Free Poker Games

Nowadays, there are many poker rooms on the web where some people spend more than eight hours a day. That’s because online poker gave birth to a new occupation — professional online poker player. These people are so into online poker that they can play on 10+ tables at the same time.

But many want to play poker without the need to make a real-money bet. Therefore, some poker enthusiasts and developers decided to introduce free poker games.

Some of them, such as Zynga poker, work pretty much the same as the bingo app we discussed. Once you connect your Facebook account, you will be given free money you can use to play cash games or tournaments. The money you earn can be used for playing games with higher stakes — much like in real life, except that you’ll only deal with fake money.

Conclusion: Free Casino Games Are Also Exciting

There are many great casino games out there, such as this one, that offer much more than just an opportunity to win hefty prizes. However, many casino lovers don’t enjoy the fact that they need to make a bet at all, which is why they opt for free games instead.

These can either be free variants of existing casino games or a completely new game type heavily inspired by casinos. Their beauty lies in the fact that you get to play games for free and have fun without actually having to pay attention to your bankroll.

Plus, most of these games are social, meaning you get to play them with other people from all over the world. And since they are not considered gambling, they don’t require special licenses, which makes them readily available in many countries.
